Etruscan Roman Remains

Authored by: Charles Godfrey Leland

Published by: Troy Books

To accompany our previous publication of Aradia, or the Gospel of the Witches, and Gypsy Sorcery and Fortune Telling, we are delighted to introduce the Troy Books edition of the 1892 book Etruscan Roman Remains in Popular Tradition, by the folklorist Charles Godfrey Leland. The book presents a fascinating collection of lore, magical charms, spells, divinations, necromantic rites and spirit conjurations from the Tuscan region of Italy with a particular focus on the beliefs and practices of Stregheria, Italian traditional witchcraft. Indeed, parts of this book by the ‘grandfather of modern witchcraft’ are, as Stewart Farrar remarked, ‘virtually a grimoire of witches’ magic.’ Profusely illustrated throughout with Leland’s typically bewitching ink drawings.
